About Us

The Dillon Junior Sailing Program is a great way to spend a Colorado summer outside learning a lifelong skill, sailing.

We focus on 3 things: safety, fun, & sailing skills. Our classes are for kids ages 10 to 18 of all skill levels. Certified sailing instructors teach our junior sailors in the classroom, on the dock, and on Lake Dillon. Junior sailing sessions are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm and Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Jim Young to Conduct Coaching Clinic July 26th & 27th

As part of our Junior Olympic Festival at Lake Dillon this year, the DYC is bringing Jim Young to conduct a coaching clinic on Thursday & Friday, July 26th and 27th.  On Thursday, July 26th, Jim will provide a full day clinic free for all youth who have registered for the DYC Junior Olympic Festival.  Jim will also be on hand on Friday, July 27th both before, during and after the first day of racing providing a wrap-up at the dinner at the Frisco Bay Marina.

Jim Young is a professional coach with 25 years of Olympic-level experience, for 4 National Teams - US Sailing Team, US Ski Team, US Biathlon Team, Swiss Sailing Team - in 3 sports, in two countries, two of those as Head Coach.  Most of his recent years has been spent privately coaching athletes from many countries around the world.  Beginning in 2005, Jim's goal has been to "settle down" and spend more time in the USA, especially with youth.

Dillon Juniors Give One-Two Punch at Chatfield!

The Chatfield Jr. Regatta has become a favorite for the DYC Junior racers. It is a fun, casual atmosphere with great hospitality provided by the Chatfield Yacht Club. And while there wasn't much wind for this year's event, it still proved to be a challenge of tactical wits.

Ben Schoeffield and Jordan Nelson both competed in the Laser Fleet with their radial rigs and they walked away with hardware once again. Jordan placed first and Ben placed second in a fleet of six lasers.

Jordan and Ben will be joined by George Darling and Steven Ragle as they head to San Diego to compete in the Junior Olympics July 15 - 17.
