About Us

The Dillon Junior Sailing Program is a great way to spend a Colorado summer outside learning a lifelong skill, sailing.

We focus on 3 things: safety, fun, & sailing skills. Our classes are for kids ages 10 to 18 of all skill levels. Certified sailing instructors teach our junior sailors in the classroom, on the dock, and on Lake Dillon. Junior sailing sessions are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm and Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Race Camp signups

Join the DYC Jr. Sailing Program for a Race Camp the week of June 28th - July 2nd.  It is available to advanced junior sailors ages 10 - 18.

The class will run 10:00 - 5:00 Monday through Friday and costs $275.  Kids should bring their own lunch Monday - Thursday and lunch will be provided on Friday.

We will also hold short racing clinics on Friday, August 13th & Friday August 20th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.  The cost for these clinics are $50/each.

These courses will be taught by Tim Seeling.  Tim has been sailing competitively since 1971.  He was the Star 21st District Champion Skipper for 3 years and was on a Star 21st District Champion crew for 3 years.  He has raced J 24's, Lasers and J 35's.  Tim has competed in numerous off shore races in Star Worlds, North American and Bacardi Cups on both coasts.

In addition to sailing, Tim has an extensive coaching background in skiing.  He has served as a J1-J3 Full Time Coach for SSEF, Head Coach for the Breckenridge Ski Club, Associate coach for the US Ski Team, World Cup Men & Women, and Spped events, and was the Head coach for Summit Ski & Education Foundation.

Friday Night Races

The DYC Jr. Sailing Program will be holding Friday night small boat races off of the A dock beginning July 9th, 2010.

Want an opportunity to get some extra sailing in?  Join us at 5:30 at the Jr. Clubhouse at the Dillon Marina.  Boats are available and free of charge to all DYC members.  These will be informal races so don’t expect a large trophy if you win.  But this is your chance to polish your sailing skills as well as getting to know our future racers!

Our first race will be held Friday, July 9th and will run through Friday, August 20th.  See you at the lake on Friday nights this summer!!

Welcome to the 2010 DYC Junior Sailing Program!

Greetings,

We are gearing up for another fantastic summer! We are pleased to announce that our Head Instructor, Stacy Brooks will be joining us again as the Head Instructor for all our students. In addition, we are thrilled to expand on our local racing team "Top of the Rocks" with upgraded boats and instructors eagerly waiting and looking forward to welcoming a very talented and enthusiastic group of racers.

Please note our summer camps start on June 28th which to two weeks later than years past. This allows for our instructors to properly open the camp and allow the lake to fill up to a proper level.

As we prepare for another wonderful summer, we would like to "Thank You" in advance for having your kids to the program on time. Along with encouraging a positive attitude, it is the single most important thing that you can do for your child. This helps the instructors get a quick start on their daily lesson plan and gives all of the sailors the maximum amount of time on the water. Please be sure to review the Downloads portion of the web site as it defines in more detail all aspects of the program.

As was the case last year, our primary means of communication during the summer will be by email and this new section of the web site.  Please plan to check your email  regularly once the summer begins.

Thank you for your continued support of the DYC Junior Sailing Program!
