Hope to see you this summer!!!!
Sailing season for the juniors is starting to wind down. This past weekend was the "Two & a Half Men/Women Regatta hosted by the DYC. This regatta combined junior sailors aboard DYC member racing boats for a fun day of racing. Take a look at the link for photos. There are still a couple weekends of racing at the DYC so if any juniors are interested head down to the marina on the weekends to see if you can hop on a boat.
During the off-season we will be making some changes such as consolidating our fleets and purchasing some new, easier to sail beginner boats, as well as Laser 4.7 rigging to continue to grow our Laser fleet. We hope to see even more kids through the program next summer. Thank you to everyone who made this summer a huge success. We had more kids through the program than ever and could not have done it without the help of the many volunteers and parent supporters. Contact James during the off-season with any questions or comments you had about the season or have about next season. See everyone next year!
We are trying to sell 2 sailboats for the end of the season. Boats can be available next week. Funds from the sale of the boats will go towards funding of new fleet of single-handed sailboats to allow more students in camp! We are selling 2 RS Feva sailboats. Click the picture for more information. Please contact James if you are interested.
Thanks to all who participated and helped with the Junior Olympic regatta. Results can be found here.
The 2013 Junior Olympics is right around the corner. Dates are July 26-28. We have had more sign up and are looking to have a nice amount of Lasers racing. Check out the registration page here for a schedule of events and more information!
My dog Nala joining the kids!
We had an interesting week on Lake Dillon with extremely varied and high winds. All the kids toughened up and braved the cold waters of the lake. Even though we had more capsizing this week than most, it was still exciting and a great experience for all the kids. Even when it started to rain, the kids stayed out on the lake and had water-gun fights. There are definitely some tough kids up in the mountains. There was also some great mini racing by all students on the last day. Week 4 pictures and video
Another amazing week up here in the mountains. Had a good amount of past campers with great sailing skills so we had the opportunity to venture farther out into Lake Dillon to experience consistent & heavier winds. The weather was sunny everyday and with the water up more, the lake is looking very nice. We were able to get the 420 & Laser in the water for Junior Olympic training. We also had a huge water-gun fight on the beach the last day. Thank you to all the sailors for a fun week!
We just finished Week 2 of sailing camp on Lake Dillon Reservoir. This week, the SOS Outreach kids returned. SOS is a program which allows undeserved youth to participate in outdoor programs they would normally not be able to afford. We were so very happy they could join us again this year. The wind and weather were challenging at the beginning of the week, but all the kids were able to get out and test their skills. Thank you to all the kids and parents for another great week.
